The grass is always greener on the otherside,
or whatever my dad used to say.

With the development of artificial intelligence, and its expansion rapidly leaking into our lives, our world has become littered with false realities. I find myself interrogating faces, hands and trees throughout my morning scroll. My mom does not.

My humanity has been pushed against itself; I don’t know what is real anymore, I cannot trust anything anymore. I am no better, though. I am lying too. I am no longer the person in my profile picture. I’m no longer 18.

My mom is getting older.

My mom won’t get her flu shot.

My mom can’t acknowledge the world is getting hot.

This reality has become blurred. Digital content controls my mood, my knowledge, my relationships. I hate my phone. I can’t put it down.
