HAZEL’S THINGS

Fall 2022
Oil on paper

This series is a continuation of my first dog’s items. Throughout the process of painting this, I pushed and pulled with the identifiability of the items I chose to represent. I wanted to communicate a feeling of warmth, familiarity, and hominess, rather than a straightforward object. This was inspired due to the changes I saw in my own home after bringing a dog into it. Throughout these paintings, textures begin to speak stronger than the proposed item, which contributed to the evocation of the mood I desired to portray.
